I am fascinated by the connection and relationship between materials, construction, objects and function.

Clinton Sheldon’s training in Furniture and Product design at Buckinghamshire University (National School of Furniture) and his earlier studies in Contemporary Arts combine into explorative work where his starting point is based on functional reasoning, but his application and realisation can become much more conceptual.

Currently based in Berlin, Germany his recent work has allowed him to collaborate and work closely with an exciting range of companies and disciplines. His projects span from small products and gifts to anything as large as festival stages and set design. This unique combination of varying scale and subject matter gives him great opportunity to work across a number of different mediums.

Giving new life to the materials that others have discarded and transforming unwanted leftovers into something interesting – without creating any additional waste.

Henry Baumann graduated at the Akademie beeldende Kunsten Maastricht, in 2012. Inspired by the process of his final project, he is now on further research changing materials and objects. Within the context of Toegepast 18, Baumann expands upon the idea that he developed for the 130 strawberry boxes project. And once again he is giving new life to unwanted materials considered to be waste products. This time he is creating products from giant spools used for electricity cables for public works. In his projects, Baumann reflects upon our patterns of consumption and the way we deal with waste. These ideas come from his fascination for nature, the way we interact with our world and with each other. Baumann believes that our human relationship, just like our attitude to waste, should be and must be more sustainable. It is not only in the creation of the latest new product that Baumann sees the challenge of doing something with everything there is, and to discover the hidden potential of materials.

„Art and Design is essential for finding creative and innovative ways which lead us into future..“

Isabelle Tellié always tries to find new manners to reinvent our traditional crafts and to adapt them to our spirit of age. She developed a strong ecological consciousness combined with an innovative and disciplined mindset.

She studied a Bachelor in Fashion Design at the ArtEZ Institute of Arts in Arnhem, the Netherlands, where she graduated with honours in 2015. Her final collection “Formblatt 151”, was met with acclaim.

Some of her work includes:

Acid Heart

Her project Acid heart is a steel heart installation which connects you to your own heartbeat. A pulse sensor captures your heartbeat, which is directly connected to the light installation in the steel heart, so that you can see you heart beating in real time.

optical Vertigo

These acrylic glass constructions reflect elegantly with the light flow and the shadows interact with lasered shapes. When viewed from different angles or with changing natural light, it evokes varied emotions in the viewer’s eye, according to unique perceptions of its space and form.

Beyond the Surface

This polygonic installation is inspired by Freuds iceberg model theory. Freud used the analogy of an iceberg to describe the three levels of the mind.

„The Hand of Man’s preferred food is old cars, which never seem to be in short supply.“

The Hand Of Man is an interactive sculpture like no other. Originally created by artist Christian Ristow, it is comprised of a 26-foot (8 meter) long hydraulically-actuated human hand and forearm which is capable of picking up and crushing cars, and a “glove” device that controls it. Any movement in the “glove” controller is accurately reproduced in the large robotic Hand. Members of the public are invited to insert their own hands into the controller, and through the miracle of modern hydraulic technology, they are able to effortlessly lift, crush, and toss enormous objects such as cars. Years of experience have shown that using large hydraulic machines to smash things is really fun! But individual artists and heavy equipment operators shouldn’t be the only ones having such a good time; the Hand of Man democratizes the crushing power!!

The Hand of Man was exhibited at KAOS‘ christmas market „Oberschönes Weihnachtskaos“

„We are Root!“

Root was a group project by various KAOS members, handcrafted for our 5 year anniversary. Build only out of wood, Root symbolized the growth that KAOS went through within the years of its existence. During this time KAOS became a location that connects artists, designers and other creatives, and forms a strong bond and maintaining friendships amongst its members.

Root, a tree, represents all of this: Community, Coworking, and growth. It is thus the perfect symbol for KAOS‘ story and the years that will follow.

Christina Sporrong is a performance artist and metal sculptor based out of Taos, New Mexico. Born in Sweden and raised all over the world, Sporrong evidenced a fierce artistic drive from an early age. She abandoned city life to live in the inspiring high mountain desert, where she established Spitfire Forge, her own commercial blacksmithing and fabrication shop. She teaches National welding and blacksmithing workshops to women as a means to empower women and de-mystify the process of working with metal.

Sporrong spends a good part of the year traveling around the country and the world with her family, participating in various shows and festivals, showcasing her large scale sculpture projects. She continues to merge the mediums of performance art and steel sculpture with provocative and exciting results. She is currently residing in Berlin, Germany.

Gold, to the date, is still one of the most influenceable commodities of our economic system and Peru plays a big role in the world mining system. Lately, Peruvian rainforest is being affected by this.

For the last few years, natural resources in the Amazon are being exploited in an indiscriminate and illegal way. An uncontrollable situation that is turning the different Rivers in the Amazon rainforest into a metallic River, full of Mercury residues.

The gold separation process going on in the Amazon Rainforest, is a process based in the use of Mercury to create an Amalgam with the gold and separate it from the river’s water.
These unique prints were created with a similar process.

This work tries to establish a physical link between the landscape’s reality and the one imagined by its conceiver. It includes the manipulation of the visual construction and of the limits of the imaginary, based on our assumptions of what an Amazon Rainforest landscape means to us. The results are deconstructed to the extent, that meaning is shifted and possible interpretations become multifaceted.
